I watched Cindy and Fred for years before making the move to Mexico. I got away from their videos because I found my heaven in Mexico. They’re great people and have lots of stories. God bless them both!
What another excellent video. I love how Mark said to "Adapt" Accordingly - k to Mexico's culture". So true. Respect!! I have watched Cindy & Fred before and really enjoy their videos also. Hope to join y'al soon.
Thanks Joan. We try to act as if we are guests in this country, because that is what we are. They are the most hospitable people here and we love it so much. Cindy and Fred were great and we also have been watching for years. Come on down, the weather is great and the people are even better.
@@GringosRUs I have been in Mexico 4 times so far in my 60+ years and I'm hoping to spend some quality time there this winter to get away from the cold Canadian weather. If I get the chance, maybe I will have to ask you or Cindy for some help.
Myself and husband moved to Cholula Mexico in February from Cabo San Lucas, and are so surprised how cool it is in July and August. Our CFE bill for August was 630 pesos for 2 months, gotta love that. It was about 7000 pesos per 2 months in Cabo during may- September. We love it here we are 30 minutes from Puebla
We have noticed a difference since we came to Oaxaca this past weekend. Much cooler. With no AC I am sure that the CFE bill would be substantially lower here. It is very nice to wake up in the morning and need a hoodie to sit outside. Thanks Peggy
I started out watching Fred and Cindy over 4 years ago... They are so sweet! I loved the stories they told and the many " how to" videos.. .really just sharing their own experience with getting their documents apostilled and getting residency in Mexico. I also tried some of the recipes they used to show and learned about a few foods I hadn't heard of before. THANK YOU for doing this interview!!
I love Cindy and Fred! Their videos are so helpful and informative and I'm sure her book will be the same. I was stunned to hear about the concern about how things look to others, that is something that lots of folks in the states are proud to not care about, the complete opposite of Mexican culture - and a good thing to know! I'm looking forward to Cindy's book!
Huatulco is a beautiful place! Mexico is the best place in Latin America for expats, Americans and Canadians and one of the best in the world!😀 Climate has changed worldwide!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 months there in Huatulco. If it wasn't for the heat it would be a great location for us. We are still considering it though. You will love it there. Thanks for watching Elaine.
Back in the pre pandemic days. I looked at Condo Pacifico. Ground floor for 70k and penthouse for 100k. They are three to four times that now and not worth it. Cost of living is too high there now just like Puerto Vallarta
Yeah, it seems that this is occurring all over Mexico as well. It is an interesting predicament that is very difficult on the nationals trying to afford living here in their own country. Thanks for sharing that.
I just got to the greater PV area this summer and last week on the real Puerto Vallarta News, they reported that PV has fallen out of the top 10 safest cities in Mexico 😮 and, that out of all of Latin America, Puerto Vallarta is the MOST EXPENSIVE CITY IN WHICH TO RENT. Not so great news, but very noticeable everywhere. Being the only expat out where I live, I feel as if the locals are thinking "OMG, now they are even coming out here". Not helpful, even when you try to speak Spanish. I shop local and truly enjoy the fresh foods, meats, etc. for the flavor and the lower prices compared to the USA. I, personally, will be looking to move and hope to fit in and feel more comfortable elsewhere. 😢 (I have a lovely place, but have been asked several times already - you live there alone? Only one person? And you have pets? I was scraping by in the States, and now feel guilty for having a nice home here.) I have seen signs in Queretaro and Guadalajara "Gringos Go Home", so, where do you go next?
Wanted to ask Cindy and Fred if locals ask them for money? We live in a predominately National neighborhood and we speak passable Spanish. We get a knock at our door at least weekly with someone asking to “borrow” money. We love helping people. But it’s getting out of hand for our budget. Any suggestions.?
That is a very good question. Hopefully Cindy will chime in on this. It bothers us as well, as we hate to say no, but we also hate to be seen as an ATM. There is a fine line. We saw a lot of able bodied people in Huatulco that were consistently on the same corners asking for money.
Hi Guys and dolls. To begin with…The word “préstame (loan me) is their polite way of saying “dónate to me”. We prefer to give a fishing pole and teach the person how to fish. It is of no help to them to hand out money and they have no hope of a future thru a new income and self worth. Offer a fruit, cold water, cheese and bread sandwich. “Te ofrezco una torta, huevo, fruta, agua fria) “no hay dinero, lo siento” And do not fall for the prescription and they need money for medicine. They can get the medicine from a public free clinic.
@@lifeinhuatulco Thank you Cindy for those valuable tips. And you are right, money doesn't aid the situation at all. It just further propels into asking the next person. We have found that a lot of the Mexican people are proud and want to sell you something for the money. For that we have no problem, even if we don't need it as we appreciate the fact that they are trying to return a service instead of just charity.
That is but one part of the reason. It is a multi-faceted problem. The increases in the minimum wage here in Mexico over the last several years has also had a large contribution as well. The influx of foreign money into near bordering manufacturing are another factor.
Hi, Cindy here. I am an expat coach. My goal is always to help and guide, not convence and give false hope. I want people to know the true pros and cons.
Global price inflation is part of Mexico's issue, but also English speaking people who moved to Mexico are a major factor. When there are about 3 million Areicans living in Mexico not including other countries spending large amounts of dollars in Mexico. If a doctor in Mexico on average makes 50k US dollars per year in Mexico then in reality they still could not afford a home that starts at 200k. This tells me that these home prices do not make sense. There are only so many foreigners who can buy homes in Mexico. This means that home prices should reflect what Mexicans can afford. It is a shame that people want to out price their country's people. Mexico is beautiful in its own way like the United States, but let's be real before paying US prices in Mexico, I would spend that money in America. Every foreigner should respect the people of Mexico by not out pricing Mexicans from their home land. Let's be responsible to our fellow humans.

Please keep checking back. She told me this morning that she received the file for the book cover today. She will be updating her site soon.
Will do. Thank you 😊
@lifeinhatulco let us know when info for the upcoming book is ready, por favor. 😊

Thanks for joining us. We do feel healthier. The lack of stress, healthier foods and more walking. All good things for us.
